Chain Reaction 2.43: Distinct Impression

Emily

The Maker wants to add this bit of comic relief. I think I need it as well after witnessing Alex lose his mind the other day. Anyway, look at the guy's name: Anthony HOOPER--and he's playing basketball! That's great. (and yes, this pic was taken before my nephew was born--when Claire was in the park rallying sims to her cause)

When The Maker goes back in to play my house, she notices that Mom is at the hospital. Curious, she clicks to go there, and sure enough, Mom is here. She can't figure out why. Like many other players, She wishes She could take sims to the hospital or the police station without them having to have one of those careers.

At any rate, it's time for my little sister to age up.

She's adorable. She looks just like me except she has Mom's blue eyes.
Perfect. Let's just make it more obvious that she's a replacement me, one that won't disappoint her father.
In lighter news: It's time for me to age up as well! I don't want a party.

My parents barely make it in time to see me blow out my candles.

It's okay. I've gotten used to being ignored.

With such a cute mini-me, can you blame them? Besides, I understand that Isabella requires more attention than I do.

I hear this through the door:
"Mommy, no! Sissy do it!" She pauses. "Sissy do it! Sissy do it! Sissy do it!"
"No, Bella, Mommy wants to, okay?"
I don't know why the kid always wants my attention, but she does. But Mom is desperate to spend as much time as possible with her little baby. I try to stay out of the way.

It took a few weeks, but eventually, Drake moved back in with his father. Honestly, I don't know why Alex would so desperately want Drake back. All Drake does is be nasty to him. I hate it, and he knows that I refuse to take part in his dad bashing. At least he tones it down when I'm around. That's what he says anyway.
I'm around the Goth house more often now, often spending the night. The first time I did that, when I walked back into my house, my dad was sitting in the living room. He looked exhausted. He looked at me, sighed, and stood up to walk upstairs. I never got a chance to talk to him because he slept almost the entire day. He never said a word to me about my staying over at Drake's, so I assume it's okay. If not, I'm an adult. Maybe that's why he didn't directly say anything to me.
Drake is toying with the idea that he wants his own place. It's sad that the main reason he's delaying doing so is that he wouldn't have the opportunity to torture his father as much. I get a little uncomfortable when he sometimes calls it our place.
I know it's always been presumed that Drake and I would get married, but now that the time has come that it actually could happen, I'm not so sure I want to. I don't know if I want to spend my life with someone who enjoys so much being cruel.

"Wake up, lazy bones," I hear. He's teasing me. He should know better after keeping me up last night.
I groan as a reply. He says something else, but I fall asleep again.
When I wake up, I don't see him. He must be getting some breakfast.

However, when I go to the kitchen, he isn't here. I do find Alex, though.
      "Have you seen Drake?"
Ever since that afternoon when he found Drake and me in his bed, I've been a little nervous around Alex. He apologized profusely the first opportunity that he had, but I can't shake that look he had in his eyes. It was like... It was like how my dad looked when he was yelling at Alex or Drake. He told me it was because he was shocked, that Drake had finally struck a nerve, and after all the buildup from everything else, he snapped. It was just so unlike him! He's normally so cool about everything. It's one of the things I like about him, the fact that he can tackle life's problems with his head on straight...except for that moment. That did prove to me that his remaining cool might just be an act. Still, it's a good act.
Alex turns around, a bit surprised to see me standing here...in my pajamas.

"I didn't realize you were here. If I had, I would've had Masami make a decent breakfast instead of putting out cereal." Before I can reply, he says, "He's upstairs on the punching bag, probably beating up an imaginary Selena."
Drake despises his future step-mother. Alex and Selena get married in a few months. She's having a bridal shower in a few weeks, and Drake has been trying to concoct a plan to spoil it for her. I told him he needed to stay out of it, but he won't listen.
"Thanks," I say. "And you don't need to worry about me and breakfast. Cereal is okay." I smile. "I'm low-maintenance."
"I'm glad somebody is." He acts like he means his fiancee. I've often wondered why he's marrying Selena if she so obviously gets on his nerves. "I'd not realized your hair was that long."

That came out of nowhere. "Huh? Oh. Yeah. Well, I decided to stop putting it up, and yeah, it's this long." I shrug.

"Well, I like it. It's...nice." He looks lost in thought, even as he speaks.
"Uh, okay. Thanks." What else am I supposed to say?
He turns to his butler. "Masami? Fix Emily a decent breakfast, would you?"
      "Yes, Mr. Goth."
Before I can argue that I don't need it (didn't I say that already?), Alex walks past me out of the kitchen.
And I have the distinct impression that Drake's dad just checked out my butt. Maybe I'm imagining it. I have to be imagining it.
