Chain Reaction 2.36: The New Landgraab

3rd person

     After interviewing dozens of women (and that was after tossing out hundreds to thousands of letters and emails), Malcolm Landgraab has chosen a woman to mother his child.

     She had several strikes against her, to be honest. One of them is the fact that she already has an illegitimate son, Jarvis. Another is she's flat broke, which heavily implies she's only doing this for the money. She also has the kleptomaniac trait.

    But there's just something about her that Malcolm can't resist. He can't figure it out, and he hesitantly asks her if they could conceive a child the old fashioned way instead of in a lab.

     She happily agrees.

     They woohoo the night away.
     Nancy Landgraab gets the woman's son Jarvis settled as comfortably as possible on the third floor of the house. The Landgraabs hadn't planned on having an extra guest in addition to the chosen mother, who will stay with them at least until the baby is born. They'll have Jarvis a bed delivered tomorrow.

     The next morning, Malcolm wakes up exhausted but happy. To think, he risked jail to have a child. He should've thought of this scheme ages ago. It brought him Liliana (the woman's name). Even though she's only a little older than he, she's had much more experience in the sack. She was a good teacher with a happy student.

     He's not thrilled about Jarvis, but he can overlook that little ripple in his plans. What he didn't expect, most of all, was to be incredibly attracted to one of the candidates. Sure, they were all beautiful. He made sure of that by asking them to submit headshots. But Liliana stood out. The fact that she has the kleptomaniac trait only increases his attraction to her.

     Well, these should be a very fun couple of weeks, he thinks in anticipation of getting Liliana pregnant. Thinking about it makes him decide to wake her up for another romp.

      No big surprise, the very actively woohooing couple doesn't take long to conceive.

      Liliana can't wait to tell Malcolm.

      Malcolm is so happy that he starts crying. Finally, his dreams of becoming a father will come true. And it's all thanks to this marvelous woman standing happily in front of him.

      They've grown close over the past few weeks. Malcolm has started wondering if he'll be able to let her go once the child is born.

     Liliana, however, is very careful. She's already experienced what it's like to hope and dream of becoming a couple just because a child is involved. She thought she'd loved Jarvis's father, but she learned the hard way what some men do when they find out their girlfriend is pregnant. She has had to struggle to keep food on the table. She sent off her application to the Landgraabs as a joke, a lark, laughing as she hit the 'send' button on her email. Then, when the offer of the interview came, she was shocked. She hadn't tried to hide the fact that she already had a son.

     Malcolm's father Geoffrey has really taken to Jarvis. She doesn't look forward to the tears from her son once the Landgraabs turn them out. He won't understand why the old man has lost interest in him in favor of his grandchild. For now, though, she lets Jarvis have these few months of his life when he has a man that acts like his grandfather. She got kicked out at 17. He'll never know her parents. She has no idea where Jarvis's father's parents are or even if they're still alive. Mr. Landgraab can pretend with her son for a while.

      Then, she finds out that Geoffrey likes Jarvis so much because he's proof that she's fertile. Having Jarvis actually helped when it came to being chosen.

     She really can't complain. For a little while at least, she and her son have a very comfortable place to live. Malcolm has been very sweet. Maybe under better circumstances, they could've been an actual couple, but she knows her place.

     What's he saying? He tells her how he enjoys her company. He says the house feels more like a home instead of a building full of possessions. He lets her know how happy she's made him.

     She replies that she's glad.

     Then, he does the last thing in the world she expects. He asks her to become the next Mrs. Landgraab. Has she really touched Malcolm's heart? Is she capable of softening hers?

     How can she say no?

     They elope, getting married immediately. Liliana can hardly believe it!

     Malcolm dotes on his new wife, and she blissfully accepts the attention, even if he babies her when she gets a small cold. 

     Time passes very quickly for the young couple, and before they know it, Liliana goes into labor.

      They have a little girl that will be the joy of her father's world. Little Pearl will surely live a privileged life.

      Thrilled about his daughter, Malcolm can't wait to have more.

So, why the Landgraabs? Malcolm really HATES Ethan for arresting him and proving his guilt. He can't believe he got outsmarted by 'that buffoon.' However, we didn't see much of that this chapter because of his being consumed with the need to start a family.

I just wanted to give them a chapter just in case I take this hatred that Malcolm bears Ethan somewhere. At first, I was just going to go into CAS and marry him to the townie I picked (I DID actually find them in the simbin then did some slight alterations) and poof into existence a toddler for them, but then I decided to play them a little since I've never had anything to do with the Landgraabs in the past (even in Sims 2).

Very, very interesting sets of traits in that family...
