Edward wins the election! I stand in the crowd and cheer while he gives his acceptance speech. Right after I'd arrived, he'd quietly pulled me off to the side and asked me to stand with him, but I wouldn't. I'm still convinced my tarnished reputation would've hurt his chances.
Afterwards, he invites me to come see his new house. I insist upon traveling there separately, knowing he's probably being watched.
I've not seen Edward's house yet. This is what it looks like, well, in the daytime. The Maker took these pictures at a different moment but is using them here.
I walk up to the door, but I don't have to knock because Edward opens it before I can.
"Welcome to my humble abode," he says warmly, reaching for my hand and gently pulling me inside. "I plan on moving soon, so sorry if it's not nicely decorated. I've been wanting to tell you I've designed and built another tiny house by the beach, and I want to live in this one." His eyes widen. "Not that I would've minded living in the other one!"
I laugh a small laugh and hug him. He acts momentarily surprised, and I inwardly rebuke myself. Then, I tell myself to shut up when Edward's arms wrap comfortingly around me, and he sighs.
"You want to know what I like best about this house, though?" he asks happily. He doesn't give me time to answer when he says, "The porch upstairs." His arms release me, and he beckons me up the spiral staircase.
The staircase immediately opens to the back porch, and I again feel grateful we don't have the Seasons expansion pack because it would rain and snow inside the house otherwise.
I stand next to the solid railing and look out at the small bit of trees somewhat blocking the road beyond. Dusk falls thickly in the tropical foliage, and I immediately know why this is Edward's favorite part of the house.
"Is that music?" I question as my ears strain to listen.
"One of my neighbors must have their player outside," he answers.
Without asking, he turns me and starts dancing. I worry he'll take me back too far and I'll fall into the stairwell, but we hardly move, taking tiny steps. His arm around my waist holds me much closer than it did last time we danced. It brings our faces very near each other, and I wonder if he's about to kiss me. However, he brings his head beside mine. I start wondering what it would be like to kiss him, pondering if it'll even happen tonight. I could see him wanting to wait until tomorrow for our actual date.
He turns his face more towards mine and says into my ear, "What is it about you that makes you so irresistible?" He almost rolls his R's as he says the last word, and my legs stop obeying my mind's commands, causing me to miss a step.
If he doesn't kiss me tonight, I'm going to go insane! Why does this town still operate on such old-fashioned rules?
"Do you know?" he questions again.
How do I answer that? I force my voice to work. "U-um," I clear my throat, "someone once told me I was in an exotic way. I don't really know what he meant, but that's what he said." Wait. What if there wasn't supposed to BE an answer to that? Do I look vain now?
He doesn't act like it was odd that I actually answered. "Exotic... Hmmm... Yes, I can see that. Your features like those dark brown eyes combined with hair as black as midnight. Well, except when the sun hits it. Then there's the smallest hint of red. You're beautiful."
Just keep breathing. I didn't know Edward had it in him to make me feel like this. I wouldn't have minded at all to only have the sweet, caring Edward, but the seductive Edward makes my legs turn into jelly. Do I respond? Would saying 'thank you' right now make me sound conceited?
I feel his breath on my ear as he continues, "But it's not just your physical beauty that attracts me to you. I feel like you are the only one who has ever really understood me. For the first time in my life, I had someone out there that didn't think I was crazy with my ideas." He turns us so that my back is to the railing.
Oh, Edward, just kiss me already! I take a breath, and it sounds shaky. "Because they're not crazy. They're brilliant. And now, you have most of the town beginning to see that also."
"I may have given up halfway through if it weren't for you. I was actually afraid to bring up some of my ideas in my speeches, afraid they all would ridicule me."
"But they didn't," I remind him.
"But they didn't," he echoes, but he says it in a quietly rejoicing way. He shakes for a moment before he says, "I'm telling you all this in order to give you a better understanding why I feel the way I do. I love you, Ana."
He lifts his head away from the side of my face, and his lips briefly touch mine.
That's it? I think uncontrollably. I open my eyes to see him looking intently down at me. I really want him to kiss me again.
He releases my hand and wraps his arms around me while he kisses me with more passion. This time, he pulls one of his hands up to hold the back of my neck, making it more difficult should I want to pull back. I don't. I kiss him back, unleashing all the pent-up emotions and feelings I've had for this man since the day I met him, good and bad.
He moans, and I sense he too has opened the floodgate to his hidden feelings because his kiss turns into a desperate demand for more. I've never been out-kissed before. Joseph was clumsy and sloppy, and I could always match Luke. But now, with Edward, I find myself clinging to him while his tongue sometimes teases, sometimes boldly caresses mine.
Breathing? Who needs to breathe? Kissing is so much more important. I have longed for this moment, and I don't want it to end yet. I notice Edward takes little snatches of air. But I never know when he's going to do it, so I can't also take in more oxygen because by the time I realize he's doing it, his mouth has once again fully reclaimed mine. The only way I can get any air is through my nose, but it's inadequate.
Edward releases me, and I stand here and pant, trying to catch up with my racing heart. His lips journey across my cheek to my ear, and he once again speaks into it. "Please tell me you understand. I love every bit of you with every bit of me."
HE'S SO WONDERFUL! I want to scream. I'm so happy, but I can't express my feelings because I'm still trying to catch my breath.
"I always have," he adds, and he lifts his head to look down at me. One of his hands reaches up to caress my cheek, and he lightly kisses my lips a few times.
I think I can speak now, so before he can kiss me again, I look into his marvelous blue eyes and say, "I love you, Edward." I take one more breath before he wildly kisses me again. I never could get enough air before. I don't know why, but I couldn't. So now, I feel myself slipping down him as he holds me, my legs giving out. Pathetic, I mentally accuse myself, but Edward doesn't act like he minds.
He pulls back to let me breathe again, and he trails kisses down my neck while I gasp for air. I can't get my eyes to focus, and I'm pretty sure they're crossing even when I close them. Plumbob! I want to tell him more like he told me, but it's all I can do to breathe!
I stubbornly try anyway. "I.. didn't... always. ... I tried... to... despise you, but I... couldn't." I probably could've said that better. I'm a gardener, not a poet. I tense up that Edward will take what I said badly.
He starts laughing where his mouth rests on my chest. He has me leaned back in order to hold me, and I clutch his shoulders as much as I'm able.
"What?" I ask. "What's funny?"
"I wondered," he explains, kissing me back up to my neck now. "But I kept trying, using being your landlord as an excuse to see you."
I suddenly understand. "And I took that from you." My breathing has started to get more under control.
"Yes," he replies into my neck. "I couldn't deny you anything, even when you asked for that." His lips run along my jaw while he speaks, "I'd lost my excuse, and I was wracking my brain to come up with another one, but nothing would come to me. I'd also heard you were dating Luke. Then, you called me. I'd not realized it was you at first." He lifts up his head and smiles down at me. "I was so happy to see you again."
"And then I got pregnant," I add to his story.
"And then I felt you needed me more than ever. Once you'd told me the two of you had broken up, I wanted to tell you, but then I realized you'd already had enough of the emotional whirlwind that day. I never found the perfect opportunity. Luke showed back up, and my heart broke."
I kiss him again, wanting him not to mention how he wanted Luke and me to become a family because he thought it would be the best thing for me. I don't want to talk about that with Luke's all-but-proposal just this morning still fresh in my mind.
Edward's kiss changes, and I sense his mind has started traveling down a different path. He pulls back to quickly whisper, "My arms are tired."
"Okay," I reply very quietly, and I try to make myself stand up straighter.
"I don't want to stop kissing you," he tells me just above a whisper. "Come inside." He pulls me towards the door behind him.
What is he expecting?
Oh well. It doesn't matter. It's Edward.
We end up on his bed. One of his legs parts mine, and he moves against me in a torturously-slow rhythm. I let out a whimpering sound and try to remove his jacket.
"Mm-mm," he says, making a negative sound. "It all stays on, or I will lose my mind."
Lose it! I scream in my head, but all that actually comes out is a more desperate whimper.
"I sometimes forget you didn't grow up in Roaring Heights. You're used to expecting more," he says in a seductive voice. Plum, right now, any voice is a seductive one.
He continues, "I can, perhaps, think of a compromise." His tongue quickly moves from between my collarbones to my chin. "Your skin is so... delicious."
Thank the Maker I'm lying down already.
Edward moves down and rises up on his knees. I look questioningly at him, and he smiles before turning his gaze to my skirt. Hunger replaces sweetness in his eyes as he brings up the hem. Then, he pushes my knees apart and gets between them.
"Edward!" I gasp, shocked. "Ah!"
He lets out a low groan as if to say, 'Please, don't stop me.'
He pushes more and more of my skirt aside. Then, from between my legs, he looks up at me and says, "I guess I'm breaking my own rule, but these are in the way." One article of clothing gets removed.
Edward is a fast learner, and he soon has me going out of my mind.
