Anastasia
Don Hendrix can kiss my hind end. I'm so glad we moved!!! This town is gorgeous! From a speaker nearby, I hear a song.... Heaven; I'm in Heaven; And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak...
But WHERE is everyone? I go to the beach, and people don't show up. So, I head in the direction of the music.
A cafe! I'll bet this is where everyone is.
So that I don't look strange and get the annoying point+laugh, I spin into my everyday wear. Yes! People!
I walk up and introduce myself to.... Consort Capp?! He looks at me like I'm strange.
"You're kidding, right?" I ask, thinking of Sims 2.
"I beg your pardon? Why would I kid about who I am?" he asks me back.
"Sorry, sorry," I say quickly, shaking my head.
Then, I turn around and meet someone my age. She tells me her name is Helen Jones.
She looks me up and down in a kind of confused way. "Um, your...pants? Are they pants? Did you get them from the prison surplus? I was unaware the big house needed money so badly that they're selling their prisoners' clothing."
I give her a quizzical look. "Huh? My leggings? No. They're just striped."
"Why would you choose to have leggings striped like prison garb?" she asks. "I'm not trying to be a bluenose here, but I would choose something different or folks will wonder about you."
"So, you recommend polka dots?" I ask straightly, though I have a touch of sass added to it.
She purses her lips. "Certainly better than looking like someone on the lam from the slammer."
Is she speaking Simlish? While I stand here and try to digest and translate what she said and figure out in what way she obviously insulted me, she spins around and flounces away.
Oh....kay? I shrug and decide to go exploring my new town.
A garden! Oh, a gorgeous garden! I love it!
I quickly go and get a few free samples. Inside a building near me, I hear a couple arguing, but I leave them to it. I just adore the gazebo, and I'm sure to walk inside it and look around before I head home.
At school the next day, I find out many other people don't like that Helen Jones girl. A few people call her a dumb dora, whatever that is. Lots of students think my whole outfit is nifty. I get the feeling they like it in that they see me as some sort of rebel.
By the end of the day, I've heard 'fella' and 'swell' so many times that I start giggling uncontrollably. One dude notices it, and he asks me if I have a screw loose. I laugh again, holding my sides by wrapping my arms around my middle. He merely smiles, and I learn his name is Joseph.
"In all seriousness, are you okay?" he asks sincerely.
"Yes. I'm just getting used to the lingo around here," I reply. "Back home, nobody talks like people here do except really old people."
I invite him over to my house, just being nice. He blinks a few times like he's surprised before he answers, "Sure! That'd be swell."
Maker, help me.
"Uh...Anastasia?" he asks.
"Yeah?"
"You do realize you're standing in a tree, don't you?" he questions, and he looks so cute doing it.
I look down. "Oh. Well, the game put me here. I guess I'm just one with nature."
He laughs out loud.
"I've never met anyone like you. Is everyone at Lucky Palms like you?" he asks.
"No. I was an oddball there too," I reply, losing some of my smile.
"I wouldn't call you an oddball. You're unique, not odd, and that's just the dragonfly's whiskers."
My smile returns. "The what?"
"It means swell, only better," he explains.
"So, like cool."
"Cool? As in on ice? No, you're not dead," he replies, looking confused.
"Seriously?" I ask. He has to be joking. He doesn't know what cool means?! I'm not only in another town but another WORLD. Just what happened as we moved cities?
He gives me a strange look. "I'm trying to pay you a compliment."
"Oh! Sorry. Yeah, thanks. Thank you."
Plum, I hope I'm not blushing. Am I blushing? My face certainly feels hot, and he's smiling at me again. He really has a nice smile. His deep-set eyes are a bit distracting...but in a good way.
"So, if you're new here, you have to let me take you to the movies!" he exclaims happily.
I grin. "Oh I 'have to'?" I tease.
"Absolutely!" he says, stressing each syllable. "Friday? Six?"
I nod, positive I'm blushing now.
"That's swell," he says. "I'll see you tomorrow at school."
" 'Kay," I answer and wave. Did he just ask me out? That IS what that meant, right? I hardly know which way is up anymore. I go inside to talk with Dad about our new town and the 'swell fella' that just asked me out.

Blooper:
And I have an inkling I'm really going to like Roaring Heights. My jazz age slang has gotten a little rusty, so I need to polish it off.

LOL well guess having her transported back in time in a way helps to explain why everyone there dresses like they do. EA took a perfectly good town and f-ed it up by making it all old school (IMO).
ReplyDeleteHope she has a good time on her date.
LMBO! I had to do SOMEthing or wind up changing all the townies. The old school ain't so bad except that there's so much 'new-fangled' technology side by side.
