Uncomplicated Generation Two Summary Part One

Hi! Thank you for your interest in Uncomplicated. The reason it's called that is explained on the chapters tab.

This summary is a quick read. It's broken up into two parts for picture loading reasons.

These are Tim Brewer and Mia Rao Brewer. Tim is the founder, and Mia is his wife. They started out in Barnacle Bay. Mia had two children already when she moved in with Tim: Monika and Levi.

Tim is a doctor.
I'd rolled step-children and 2 children, but I wanted the heir to be biologically Tim's. So, I used the bit where I could have them have one more child.

This is Nick. He was born on Christmas morning after my kids had opened their presents and before I went to my aunt's for the family get together. My husband named him since he was born on Christmas.

Barnacle Bay started having real crash issues, so they moved to Lucky Palms.

Nick grows up here. He becomes an author and gets quickly famous.
He meets Addie and her sisters and does his best not to stare at Addie's choice of pajamas.
Later, he asks her out, and she turns him down.

He doesn't give up. His parents start wondering when they're going to get married.

Addie discovers she's pregnant after they've been dating a while.

She has a girl she names Bonnie. The older couple is Tim and Mia. Addie lives with them, but she and Nick still aren't married.

That they're not married doesn't bother Nick and Addie, and Nick adores Bonnie.
One day, Addie comes out to tell Nick she's been offered a fantastic dream job somewhere else, and she can't take Bonnie. She's leaving the two of them.
Oh, and not only that, but she's not 100% sure Bonnie is his. She might be Donovan Steele's. Needless to say, Nick is pissed.

Donovan Steele sues Nick for custody of Bonnie. They do a paternity test, and Bonnie is indeed Donovan's daughter, not Nick's. However, especially after receiving a note from Addie to the judge, the judge awards Nick custody because Nick is the only father Bonnie's ever known.

Nick is broken-hearted about Addie leaving the two of them, even if he's happy the court says that he's Bonnie's legal father.
He doesn't date. He's not interested. However, his parents still have a wish to see him happily married, so they keep bringing different women by the house, having them stay for dinner. Nick isn't fooled and eventually has to have a shouting match with his father over the two of them constantly trying to set him up.
A few nights later, he hears an unfamiliar feminine voice downstairs, and he rolls his eyes. Not again!

But THIS one isn't so bad.

And for once, Nick doesn't mind. She's even a fan of his books.
He's polite during dinner, but he decides to wait and get her number from his dad later, not wanting to look too eager. He goes outside to get in the hot tub for a while, planning on calling this Mandi a few days from now.

She surprises him when she comes outside and joins him in the hot tub. He can't take his eyes off her.

Then he can't keep his hands off her. But, he worries about how easy this seems, and he says some stuff that makes him sound like a real jerk. She tells him that she knew his dad was trying to set them up (she works with his dad), but she thought she'd give it a try, that the worst that could happen would be that she'd be no better off than she was this morning. She didn't expect anything; she just hoped.

Then, she finds out firsthand about Nick and his 'great kisser' trait.
     They schedule a date.

Before the date, Nick's mother dies. (Why has Mama Mia only just now occurred to me? lol)
The funeral is scheduled for the same night as Nick and Mandi's date, and he has to cancel. She understands.

She shows up after everyone else leaves, and he's glad to see her. To distract him, she asks him to tell her a story.

Nick spins a tale about a widower king and a peasant girl who get married. His story has a sad ending, though. The king dies but promises the girl-now-queen that he's so grateful for her fixing the problems in his kingdom and for caring for his son that he'll find her in the next life to repay the debt he has towards her. The queen doesn't get a chance to say that he saved her from her awful father and that she owes him. So still, the promise stands.

Mandi loves the story. They schedule another date.
Bonnie stays with them for the first half of the date since his dad is still at work (workaholic not retired), and Nick likes watching Mandi on the seesaw.

They take Bonnie home and go to a diner. Mandi says Nick makes her self-conscious how he won't stop staring at her, especially while she's eating.

Then, they go to the beach, and Nick happily watches her sleep. Her job as a medical resident makes her exhausted. He doesn't mind. However, she wakes up and wants to get off the sand.

They relocated and sleep there until about 3 a.m. Then he takes her home, planning another date.
They date several times, and Bonnie ages to child. Bonnie and Mandi get along really well.

Finally (according to Nick), Mandi stays the night.

She becomes a regular fixture at his house, and he wants to make it even more official, but he's nervous.

He asks her to marry him, and she says yes. However, she doesn't want to get married as quickly as he does. She wants to finish her residency and all things medical school first. He doesn't understand it, but he accepts it. Mandi had been in a bad relationship before him, so he attributes it to that.

Bonnie finds out her biological father is Donovan thanks to Donovan opening his big mouth and telling her. She was at a friend's house, visiting, and he was there too. She asks Nick, and he confirms it. She says she doesn't care, that Nick is the only daddy she wants. Nick tells her Mandi is going to be her mommy, and she's thrilled.
Mandi does a bit of a disappearing act then, and Nick tracks her down.

She cries and tells him she's pregnant. He's thrilled she is and makes sure she knows. He wants to immediately get married, but she still says not yet.

One thing that does happen, however, is that Mandi moves in. They discuss baby names, usually not really liking the names the other one comes up with, at least not as much as the other one does. Mandi says she loves the name Anastasia. Nick shrugs, not really having an opinion one way or the other.

     Tim dies.

Bonnie ages to teen (for some reason, the child stage keeps getting gypped), and a regular day starts. Nick has a book signing; Bonnie has school; and Mandi has a routine doctor's appointment.

Nick's phone rings in the middle of the book signing. It's the hospital, so he takes it outside.
