Lemming 14: Trouble Going to Sleep

Third person

Late at night, Gavin sits eating dinner when Jocelyn walks in from her bedroom. She turns on the television and puts down the remote.
"Must you always prance around the house in nothing but your nightshirt?" Gavin asks her, a touch of irritation coming through on his tone.
"Prancing? I'm not prancing," Jocelyn says in playful defense, "and this is my house too for a little while. Why shouldn't I walk around however I wish? And this covers me more than my swimsuit anyway."

Even though he suspects it's all in his head, Gavin wonders if she chooses to wear her pajamas all the time just to torture him. His relationship with Makayla is stalling, and having Katherine's pretty daughter staying with them makes him constantly distracted.
Jocelyn reaches for the remote and turns up the volume a tiny bit. "I couldn't sleep," she explains and goes to have a seat on the couch.

Gavin clears his throat, stands up, and carries his plate into the living area before having a seat on the other couch.
"You didn't have to get up to keep me company," Jocelyn says with a silly smile. "I'm just hoping vegging out watching the highlights will make me sleepy."
"The view's better from right here," Gavin explains and inwardly laughs at his dual meaning.

The two of them sit and watch what happened today in the world of sports.

Jocelyn cuts her eyes in Gavin's direction, wondering why he scooted across the couch. Gavin sits there like nothing's amiss.

"View even better from that side of the couch?" Jocelyn asks knowingly. She's not so blind as not to have noticed the way Gavin sometimes looks at her. She feels flattered, even if he's almost old enough to be her father.
"Sure is," Gavin replies with a straight face. Then, he surprises her when he gets up, takes his plate to the sink and washes it, and returns to sit down right next to her on the loveseat.

"You're blocking my view of the television," she tells him plainly.
"Okay. I'll move," he says with a smirk.

Instead of going to go sit on the other couch, he scoots right up next to her. "Is this better?" he asks quietly. Then he watches her closely for her reaction. She smiles but also tries to look around him.
Jocelyn mind whirls as she digests what just happened. Other than the occasional sultry glance above the rim of his glasses, this is the first time Gavin has ever acted on his apparent attraction to her.
She takes her turn smirking when she facetiously replies, "Yeah, I can see around you if I crane my head around."

"How do you sleep with your hair twisted back into a bun like that? No wonder you're having trouble sleeping. You should let your hair down," Gavin says quietly, his voice melting into her ear.
"If I don't have it like this, it'll be a disaster in the morning," she responds, now only pretending to watch the television.
"You must toss and turn a lot at night then."
"I do. That's not exactly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on," she tells him.

"My bed's much more comfortable," he informs her, leaning close to her ear.
Jocelyn surprises herself now when she finds what Gavin said funny. "Oh, it is," she states, wondering what her mom and new step-dad would make of finding them together in Gavin's bed.
"Yes," he answers. "Care to try it out?"
"You mean you're willing to trade beds with me?" she asks, doing her best to hold in the laughter.
"No. Not exactly. I'm merely inviting you to share it with me." He can smell the soap she used in her shower earlier as he leans in closer. "Maybe we could try a few things to help you get to sleep."

She can't hold in the laugh anymore, and it escapes as she says, "Gavin, you're so funny." Then she nudges him with her shoulder, pushing him back a little as she does.
Gavin raises his eyebrows and replies, "'Funny' isn't what I'm meaning to be. I'm perfectly serious." He watches her face as the smile drops off it, and he decides to continue. "You're an incredibly beautiful woman, Jocelyn. I'd be a fool to miss that."
Her temper quickly does a one-eighty, and she scoots away from him.

"You say that, yet you certainly haven't missed a chance to complain about how I dress." Her voice does a mockery of his when she continues, "'Must you always walk around in your nightshirt?'"
Gavin's hands move in front of him, his thumb going through the index finger of his other hand in a poorly-designed animation, "I'm sorry if it seemed like I was complaining. What I was meaning was that you're utterly distracting when you do that."
"No. I think you need to go sleep in your bed alone tonight," she says.
He can't figure out where he went wrong, so he stares at her for a moment with his eyebrows coming together. Her face returns to a calm expression. Then, figuring he might not want to try again only to get fussed out, he stands up.

"Then, goodnight, Jocelyn," he says as he starts walking away.
"Gavin, I'm not mad-mad. I just can't believe you thought I'd jump into bed with you like that," she says quickly, needing to explain her actions.
"My apologies then," he tells her stiffly. "Sweet dreams," he finishes as he heads towards his bedroom--alone.

Alrighty, so when I started with this scene while playing the game, I'd meant to make more of it, but these two wouldn't get together often enough like they did this evening. So, I moved them out together, typed in a few cheat codes, went into CAS, and got them married. Sorry about the lack of their story, but you can make it up in your head that Gavin eventually wins her over. *big, cheesy grin*
Besides, let's get back to Mitchell's family's story!

  1. Well that's an interesting turn of events. Gavin a bad boy dating one chick but putting the moves on his friend's new step-daughter. LOL

    1. Yeah, a bit creepy and unexpected, but there she was prancing around in front of him all the time. He thought he'd try. Honestly, he and Makayla didn't sync well. Guess he and Jocelyn didn't either, but now he's in the family. >:)
