Lemming 3: Blazing Flame
While I try to work things out with Monique, J and Zoe start up something.
Monique does care for the twins most of the time, but I help out when I can. My job as a stand-up comedian means that I have to work in the evenings, but Monique has plenty of help since most everyone else works during the day. Zoe absolutely adores the twins. I wouldn't be surprised to see her as a mother in a few short years... Although, to be honest, I hope it's not with J.
We renamed the twins: Justin and Jenny.
One day, I come home early to find Monique chatting it up with her old flame, Blaze. (can't help the pun) She quickly comes up with some made-up excuse for him to leave. I'm not fooled. I almost expected this. What does surprise me is that Blaze would want to have something to do with her again. She broke up with him, broke his heart, had children with another man, lives with that man, and she's willing to cheat on that man. Why would he want that?
Why do I still want her after everything I know about her? Sure, all I saw was the two of them having a normal conversation, but it's what I saw in their eyes that told me a different story. No, I'm not fooled.
I mutely walk past her into the house while she at least has the decency to look guiltily back at me.
Then, I find out from J that he and Blaze have been becoming friends. Still, why does Blaze always happen to visit when I'm working?
Fire! Nobody was hurt, thank goodness, but we were all freaked out about it for days.
The twins age up. Justin looks a lot like me. Jenny looks like a split-cross between me and her mother. She has Monique's smile.
We bought another bed in my old bedroom and put the dresser in storage. (That's mine and Monique's room with the red bedspread -- we renovated the house when she moved in) For now, the twins share a room.
Sometimes, Jenny comes home from school in a terrible mood. I finally got out of her that the kids tease her. Justin does his best to stick up for his sister, but then they start calling him 'brainiac', picking on him as well.
Jenny is artistic like her mother. I'm happy that they at least have something to bond over.
I love that our house has a park across the street where the kids can play. When I arrive at the park, I catch a boy aiming the bubble gun right at the back of Jenny's head. She pretends to ignore him, which makes him try all the harder. Once I start playing with the kids, I give him a new target, and he and Jenny start working together to "defeat the space monster." Before he heads for home, he's sure to say, "Bye, paint-nose!" He grins, laughs, and runs off. Jenny's lower lip sticks out in a pout as we leave with Justin in tow. As we walk, I ask Jenny about the boy that called her paint-nose.
"I hate him!" she growls to me. "I wish he wasn't at our park today! He's called me that ever since that time after art class when I'd forgotten to wash the paint off my face."
"You should call him pimple-neck," Justin chimes in from behind us, swatting a stick at the grass. The two of them debate what she should do about the boy while I ponder his motives, an unfamiliar sense of ferocious protectiveness welling up inside me like a bear coming out of hibernation. Why single her out like that?
I won't let myself think that the boy could like Jenny.

Sorry this is so scatterbrained. I don't have a plan at all and am going with whatever the game does. Really, this is mostly a place for me to catalog my game. :)
BTW- I'm immensely impressed with the genetics in 4.

ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteAt least the kids have some fun :)
ReplyDeleteThose gnomes just don't go away, look at the sneaky thing there. It is probably waiting for someone to get into the pool so it can pull them under the water.
yeah. :)
DeleteLOL on the gnomes. You know me, I have to throw them in in a sneaky way. Don't tempt me to pull them into the gnome conspiracy. >:)
