This is going to be pic heavy. Heck, it's a wedding! And as an occasional wedding photographer, I'm so tickled to have subjects and an audience that will freeze when I want them to. Still, I didn't go crazy resetting everyone all the time. I still wanted the story to move along.
Now on with the blasted story already!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
My wedding day is finally here! We rented a pretty arch thingy to get married under since that's all the rage. It looks like it belongs on a beach, but it's the one I liked the most when we went to pick it out. Pedro just smiled at me and shook his head and said I could get what I want.
Our money situation isn't terrible anymore. His book isn't making us rich, but we're not desperately hoping my paintings sell. I painted another really strange one that I'm going to take to the shop later. It'll probably sell for a lot. People like weird.
I get here and the park is already teeming with people. Then I look over to my left and I see my Pedro.
He actually got his hair under control! I think he hates shaving. Oh well, I like the stubble. Plus, he's not wearing those sunglasses. I want to see his eyes when we take our vows.
Oh wow. I'm getting married today!!!!!
He looks over at me and he looks ... um, worried? emotional? Is he going to cry? Maybe the sun is just in his eyes.
We've decided to hold off on the honeymoon for a while. I want him to finish his sequel first. He keeps asking me if I'm sure, and I swear, if he asks me that one more time I'm going to.... well, it'll be bad whatever I do.
I smile and walk over to him slowly before I say, "I thought it was bad luck to see me before the wedding?"
He smiles finally and says, "Well then, I guess the wedding is getting started now." He gestures to the arch. "People have arrived, shall we?"
"One sec." I say quickly and point to the cheesy machine behind him. I want top results dangit. "Let's do that thingy first."
I look over at him and wonder why he doesn't stop staring at me.
"What?" I say when I can't take it anymore.
"You're incredibly beautiful today." he says, and then he actually blushes!
I'm irritated at how I immediately blush right back as butterflies take over my insides. I mumble a little thanks as we both hold on to the little handle thingy. We get top results. I'm finally satisfied that this machine works properly.
Pedro goes to stand at the arch and wait for me while I go off to the photo booth's mirror to check my makeup.
"Rose?" I hear just before I see Giacomo's reflection in the mirror as he walks up behind me. Oh no.
"Yes?" I ask and turn around to wonder what he could want and afraid that I already know.
"Did you get my letter?" he asks.
"Yes." I say simply.
"Then I don't need to say any more. I didn't come here to ruin your day." he says, looking resigned.
No, please don't. I think as I offer him a small smile anyway before I walk over to where Pedro waits, Giacomo following a few steps behind me.
Pedro eyes him suspiciously, but then he ignores him and smiles at me.
I wonder what he's thinking as we stand here waiting for everyone to make their way over to watch us.
Pedro, quit staring at Giacomo before you do something to ruin this.
He wisely decides to ignore everything but me as we finally start to exchange rings and say our vows.
[insert sappy wedding vows of your choice here ;) ]
Mr. and Mrs. Pedro and Rose Robles.
Oooo! If you roll the r's, my name sounds really cool.
[How many of you rolled your r's just now as you said Rose Robles?]
People begin to disperse, looking for cake, and Pedro decides to get a little frisky. Remember when I said he looked like he was going to have fireworks shooting out his ears? The look on his face tops that.
We both stand at the cake, waiting for everyone to gather around. I had threatened Pedro that if he shoved cake in my face I would walk away and not look back. He had looked at me, horrified that I would even suggest he'd do something like that. He better have been telling the truth.
He was.
It starts to cloud up when I decide to sit in front of Giacomo. Pedro looks a little unhappy about this, and he goes and sits at the other table with his back to me. Then the mayor sits next to me. I don't see what the big deal is. Neither of them tried anything. If they had, they would've gotten an earful of the stereotypical redhead temper coming straight from yours truly.
We didn't have enough money to afford a professional photographer, but we did go into the booth they have set up to take this picture. I sent a copy to my parents as previously ordered to do so.

After taking the photo, Pedro pulls me out onto the dance floor. I can still sense his irritation about the cake incident. I finally get through to him that I was just being friendly, and that's all. I don't want something so trivial to ruin our wedding day. Sometimes I just don't think. Happily, he decides to drop it.
He tells me again how beautiful I look and how well my name suits me and stuff about how my beauty outshines the roses that surround us, making me blush profusely. 'The blushing bride' yep, that's me. Where did all that come from?! He smiles when he sees he's made me speechless.
I'm married to him. Wow. I really feel the impact of the realization that I'm Mrs. Pedro Robles.
A fog starts rolling in.
"Everything okay?" he asks me.
"Mhm." I say shortly. For once in my life, I don't know what to say. It's just that look on his face when he looks at me today! He really does love me.
Our wedding party was a huge success. Sims will be talking about this one for years to come.
"Let's go home." Pedro tells me, and I agree with his suggestion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had to do two takes of the wedding scene because I forgot the cake cutting the first time around. I was so eager to get the 'first dance' shots that it completely slipped my mind. For once, obsessing over the 'error code 16' has paid off. I have a save from the beginning of the wedding. So, if the pics don't quite match, that's why. That was a really long explanation for something so simple lol.
Also, I know it's much too late to really make this a random legacy, but I went ahead and rolled on things that I could still follow the rules. However, I don't agree with the rule that they can only make money on their particular jobs. Sorry. I just don't. I'm not going to abuse this however. Anyway, it was fun (and that's the idea) to let a little random doodad say # of kids and other stuff that I can do (one will be a serious challenge). I ain't saying # of kids but other than that I got Hands off and Expansionist ( <--makes a hell of a lot of sense for a first gen). Just wanted to put in a blurb about it.
funny pic:
Nothing like everyone wanting a piece of cake at the exact same time, and no one is giving Rose, the one who cut the cake, a chance at getting her own piece for ages.
Also, what is it with having a wedding crasher (I leave it open for that) in the white and yellow shirt with the yellow baseball cap showing up in every public venue wedding I've ever thrown. Maybe it's just me.

beautiful pics and I did roll my R's being as I am bilingual and speak Spanish. This is going to be such a cute legacy story and I can't wait to see their offspring.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I speak quite a bit of Spanish myself, although I won't say I'm bilingual... almost... I understand better than I speak hehe. I Was in Spanish Ed, but I'm not sure I'm going to finish that degree.
DeleteAnd so... as I was typing her name I found myself rolling my r's, and I wondered if anyone else would also as they read along. You did! I love it!
I'm glad you're enjoying the legacy. I'm looking forward to watching the sims genetics at work. Thanks for commenting!
Happy, pretty wedding :)
ReplyDeleteAnd a yellow wedding cake - that is so neat
I am sure they will be happy together no matter the random rolls ;)
Yay!
DeleteAnd by thunder, it IS yellow. Huh. You know, I never noticed. I just picked a cake out of the section in buy mode, and I don't remember now if it was CC or EA stuff. LOL. Maybe it was the way the sun hit it.
I. am. nuts. for attempting to follow some of the random legacy rules. I'm already a rule breaker so technically I've lost LOL. darn. LMAO. There are some things I like about it, some things I don't. /shrug. I'm rolling the second generation after their first is born, as recommended, and then I guess I'll really follow the rules. So, I guess to anyone else doing one of these it looks like I'm scoffing at what they've set up. I'm not. I just wanna have fun.
Thanks for reading!
That was a pretty wedding!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about scoffing the rules. I'm an admin for that challenge, and I break or bend the rules to suit when I need to for the story...Though it started as a challenge oriented game, it's attracted a lot of storytellers who use the rolls more as a fun writing challenge, to take the elements you rolled for careers, family structure and goals and weave them into a story. Most important, it's about having fun.
You have set my mind at ease. You were the main one I was worried about, and when you started following, I got nervous I admit.
DeleteEXACTLY! I do like the little random doodad thingy to 'tell' me what to do next. :D The next gen is going to be a doozey.
Thank you.
awww congrats. She was a very pretty bride.
ReplyDeleteI had the best time getting her decked out. :-)
DeleteI'm more of a France person myself, but I did try out the rolling R's and it was quite fun. Could the person in the yellow hat perhaps be a paparazzi who specializes in weddings? ;) lol. Also I don't like rules. I break them all the time. It was awesome to see the challenge creator also tell you bending the rules is less important than having fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI sent them to Egypt because that's what they both rolled to want to do.
DeleteI know that's a sports career outfit, I just think it's funny I usually get one as a crasher.
Ikr! very nice. :)
